Hampton Hotels and Red Lobster campaigns recognized for excellence in public relations at
Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Event

New York – June 11, 2009 – Cohn & Wolfe, a leading global public relations agency, and its clients were awarded a Silver Anvil Award for Excellence and a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation at this year’s Silver Anvil Awards dinner.

The Hampton Hotels “Save-A-Landmark” program, now in its 8th year, is a nationwide landmark renovation program.  In 2008, Cohn & Wolfe energized the program by creating “Landmark Legends,” a national effort to revamp sites dedicated to Americans who inspired change. To kick off the program, Cohn & Wolfe launched two surveys to determine what defines a legend and identify Americans who embody these characteristics.  The first of six renovations was The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN, near the location of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. To encourage attendance and promote the renovations, the team wrote letters to community governments, developed b-roll and pitched local and broadcast media resulting in CNN & USA Today coverage, 45,000 survey votes and dozens of volunteers.

The “Red Lobster Fires Up Wood Grills Nationwide” campaign was created to drive awareness of Red Lobster’s largest culinary initiative in the brand’s 40-year history: the Wood-Fire Grill. To communicate Red Lobster’s investment in culinary advances, extensive chef training and menu development, Cohn & Wolfe created and distributed electronic press kits via USB drives made – appropriately – with natural wood. The USB drive provided journalists easy access to the press release, chef’s tips, quick facts, backgrounder, chef’s bio, images, and grilling tips and chef-crafted recipes. Additionally, the press kit included a feature-style food page that could be lifted directly from the USB drive for editorial use or broken into individual components for smaller stories and blurbs. One month after launch, media impressions totaled over 100 million.
